FLIGHT REVIEW AND INSTRUMENT PROFICIENCY CHECK
Pilots who are exercising privileges of a US certificate are required to have a Flight Review with an authorized flight instructor every 24 calendar months (previously called Biannual Flight Review - BFR) - CFR 14 - PART 61.56.
The flight review is an important appointment between a pilot and an instructor. It should be given necessary time and attention to perform it.
?
The Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is the way for an instrument rated pilot to recover his right to fly under IFR when he or she is out of proficiency - CFR 14 - PART 61.57
As a reminder a Pilot may not fly under IFR unless he has flown 6 instrument approaches, intercepting and tracking a route and flown a holding procedure during the last 6 months - If you are not proficient, you may do it with a safety pilot in VMC. You have 6 months to do so. The IPC is the only way to get your Instrument Rating privileges if you let the second 6 months period fly away.
The flight review in a nutshell, it is minimum 1 hour ground and 1 flight hour but let's talk about a more reasonable 5 hours time frame,
We have to review :
The Flight Review should be tailored for you within the frame draft by the FAA.
